Owner/Presenter: Melanie Woosnam (nee Dempster)
Melanie is a former Australian hockey representative and played over 25 Internationals for the Hockeyroos between 1993 -1996. She attended the AIS Hockey Unit in Perth in 1991 and was a member of the NSW Arrows National Hockey League Team for almost 10 years.
In 1989 Melanie was awarded an academic and sporting scholarship to attend Wollongong University where she completed an Honours degree in Physical and Health Education. In a coaching capacity, Melanie has been a guest coach with the NSW and Illawarra Academies of Sport. She also coached the Parramatta Women's first grade team in the Sydney Women's League for two years.
Following a short teaching career in Physical and Health Education, Melanie was appointed as Promotions Manager for Hockey NSW in 1995. In this role she toured NSW delivering coaching clinics and sport education programs to various schools and hockey associations. Her role then branched into sports administration and in 1998 she was appointed as the Executive Director for Hockey NSW where she was involved in preparations of the hockey venue for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
In mid 2000 Melanie resigned as Executive Director for Hockey NSW to take up a position as CEO of NSW Futsal. Later that year Melanie and her husband moved to Brisbane where she held the position of Executive Officer with the Queensland Touch Association for five years. During this time Melanie established a new governance board for the organisation. This structure evolved over a two-year period and was regarded as best practice by Sport and Recreation Qld standards. Melanie assisted Queensland Touch to consolidate its position as a leading State Sporting Organisation within Qld with strong core business areas in administration, finance, participation and regional and game development.
Melanie is a dedicated wife and mother of two beautiful children and has recently established her own sports management business in an effort to balance quality family time with her own professional career aspirations. Her aim with this business is to share her wealth of knowledge and experience with other organisations within the sport and recreation industry to assist them to reach their full potential - in all organisational aspects.

Sandra has extensive experience within the sport and recreation industry with numerous board appointments. She has also been employed as a regional and national manager in the finance area. Her qualifications reflect her experience in both paid and voluntary capacities, with financial and compliance qualifications as well as professional accreditations in the finance and governance areas.
Reflecting her strong skills and interest in the needs of women and the sport and recreation sector, Sandra currently occupies positions on the Boards of the Australian Womensport & Recreation Association Inc and Womensport Queensland Association Inc. In the past she has also sat on the Boards of Women's Golf Australia Inc, Golf Queensland Pty Ltd and Women's Golf Queensland Inc.
In 2000, Sandra set up her consultancy business and over the past 7 years she has advised companies, statutory bodies and not-for-profit organisations across a range of industries and sectors. This includes significant risk management and compliance advice, governance advice, education and professional development services.
Through her consultancy business Sandra has facilitated training related to risk management and compliance, governance, and the roles and responsibilities of directors and committees. This has been for small and large groups and ranged from one-off workshops to design and co-ordination of annual programs. She has also provided advice on matters of governance, board structure and constitution amendments.
Sandra's objective is ‘To add value through knowledgeable, thoughtful, energetic and enthusiastic behaviours'. In delivering her training Sandra focuses on her strong communication and interpersonal skills complemented by an ability to relate to individuals and groups at any level in the organization. This is coupled with a strong business acumen that assists balance compliance and risk obligations with commercial realities.

The UQ SPORT Professional Development Program seeks to provide Professional Development opportunities to the Health, Fitness, Sport, Education and Recreation industries.
UQ SPORT are delivering the Axelis Pty Ltd Sport Administrator Courses because they see them as a valuable addition to their existing suite of products. As well as the Axelis Sport Administrator Courses, UQ SPORT run seminars and workshops on Coach Education, Sports Psychology, Developmental Movements, Behaviour Management, Managing Teamwork and Parents in Sport.
A Partnership with the Faculty of Health Sciences within the University of Queensland, in particular the School of Human Movement Studies gives them the access to the very latest research and best practice in these fields. UQ SPORT prides itself on its ability to deliver this information to the community in a format that meets its needs.
Most UQ SPORT courses are run at their St Lucia campus, but there are plans to provide courses in regional areas in the future.
